13 years ago today

my beloved life partner

slipped away

But he’s still here

in everything

Oh how we loved

to dance and sing

But his body was beyond repair

so I held him close

in loving care

When I felt him leave

I followed him

For then, as now,

the veils were thin

But I turned ‘round, came back,

I had my life to live

Breaking my heart wide open

was his gift to give

Although we’re apart

we are also together

connected by

a sacred tether

Made of infinite love

and finite human memory

of the years he and I

lived on Earth as “we”

The truth of love

is like an iridescent feather

it’s beautiful, light,

and made for flight
